On May 6th, Pretty Lake Vacation Camp held its 73rd annual Tag Day event. Staff, board members, volunteers and members from the Downtown Kiwanis Club of Kalamazoo and the Junior League of Kalamazoo were out in force from 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. throughout the downtown Kalamazoo area as well as at local Walgreen’s, Harding’s, Felpausch and Sam’s Club to collect donations from the community.
People identified the volunteers by their bright blue aprons and colorful buckets. Everyone who made a donation — no matter the amount — received a "tag" to proudly show that they gave their support to this worthy cause of providing financial assistance to bring campers to camp this summer.
We set our goal high and hoped to raise $15,000. Despite the economic difficulties that we face, the community was again very generous and we raised — at last count — well over $17,000!! This speaks volumes to the commitment of our sponsors and the many volunteers who helped collect donations. It also speaks to the generosity of individuals and organizations in our community and their commitment to the youth of our community. Pretty Lake Camp is truly the "community's camp" and for that we are grateful.
Thank you to our sponsors:
