Kalamazoo College Posse Scholars returned to Pretty Lake in January of this year for the Posse Plus Retreat, this time utilizing our Retreat Centre and Inpost Cabins with linen service for overnight accommodations! Through our culinary department, Chef Jai and her skilled team provided 4 meals for the 55 people who were in attendance. K College utilized many of our indoor facilities for their retreat, including the Retreat Centre, Dining Hall, the Powell Gymnasium, and the Powell Conference Rooms.
Here is what Sarah Matyczyn of Kalamazoo College had to say about their experience:
We’re so grateful to all of you for taking such good care of us again this year. Our attendees had only good things to say and the facilitators said the space is perfect!
You can learn more about the Posse Scholars and the Posse Foundation at their website.
The Posse model works for both students and college campuses and is rooted in the belief that a small, diverse group of talented students—a Posse—carefully selected and trained, can serve as a catalyst for individual and community development. As the United States becomes an increasingly multicultural society, Posse believes that the leaders of the 21st century should reflect the country’s rich demographic mix. The key to a promising future for our nation rests on the ability of strong leaders from diverse backgrounds to develop consensus solutions to complex social problems. Posse’s primary aim is to train these leaders of tomorrow.
Being able to host events like this assures that we are able to continue to provide life-changing experiences through cost free summer camp to youth in Kalamazoo. On behalf of our campers and staff, we extend a HUGE thanks to K College for the opportunity to serve them. We are so grateful.
